The Teacher - Cabernet Sauvignon

Our Cabernet Sauvignon Teacher Series, is dedicated to Stan Clarke, renowned Washington State viticulturist, teacher, and mentor to so many.  When Wade hired Stan at in the late 1970s, to work at Chateau Ste. Michelle, he had no idea how much it would change his life. Even after Wade moved on from Ste. Michelle, Stan and himself stayed close friends throughout the years. Eventually, Clarke would help launch another winery, Quail Run, and hired a woman named Rebecca Yeaman to operate the tasting room. Clarke introduced her to Wade, and the two began dating. Not many years later they were married and started their own winery, Thurston Wolfe.  Stan Clarke was hardworking, intelligent, and an incredibly inspiring person. His close friends new his unwavering energy and commitment to his community. When Stan Clarke passed away on November 27, the Washington wine industry lost a pioneer and a friend. We also lost a great teacher. So please, toast a glass to Stan next time you drink Cabernet and the future he set for Washington Wine!

Harvested in mid to late October at an average of 24 Brix, grapes were fermented separately in small open top fermenters for ten days. After light pressing, the lots were blended and aged 16 months in French and American oak before bottling. With intense cherry, cassis, mocha and oak spice aromas and rich, full flavors, this wine can be enjoyed now or aged for 10 years.
