Thurston Wolfe's 2024 PGV is a unique blend of 45% Viognier and 55% Pinot Gris that perfectly balances the delicate perfume and minerality of Pinot Gris with the rich, ripe peach and tropical fruit aromas and high viscosity of Viognier. Sourced from warm sites in Horse Heaven Hills (Zephyr Ridge and Coyote Canyon Vineyards) for Viognier and a cool site in the Yakima Valley (Crawford Vineyard) for Pinot Gris, the grapes were hand-picked in late September, co-fermented in stainless steel, and blended to create a wine that conjures up images of tropical islands with notes of white peach, citrus, and jasmine.
On the palate, the PGV is full-bodied with a balanced acidity that finishes gently, leaving a satisfying and cleansing sensation. It's perfect for drinking on its own, especially on a warm summer day on the patio, or paired with seafood, particularly shellfish. Try it with clam linguine, lobster tail, or steamed mussels for a delightful culinary experience.
